Drugdle: Daily Drug Name Guessing Game

Drugdle is a word game that helps medical and health professionals and students actively recall and learn to spell international nonproprietary names of commonly prescribed drugs.

Educational Purpose

Drugdle adapts the daily word-guessing format for medicine-name learning. It supports short, repeated practice with international nonproprietary names and pharmacology recall.

The app is part of the PharmaNUS collection of free pharmacology learning webapps, which are developed and updated in response to learner feedback for students and medical and health professions learners.

What Learners Practise

  • International nonproprietary medicine-name spelling
  • Drug-name recognition through letter-pattern feedback
  • Daily active recall habits
  • Vocabulary fluency for pharmacology learners

How To Play

  1. Open the daily Drugdle puzzle.
  2. Enter a valid medicine-name guess.
  3. Use the tile feedback to infer which letters are correct and where they belong.
  4. Continue guessing until you identify the drug name or use all attempts.
  5. Review and return for regular practice.

Use In Teaching

Drugdle can be used as a short independent practice activity, a warm-up before class, a revision task after teaching, or a prompt for small-group discussion. It works best when paired with debriefing, explanation, and connection back to core pharmacology concepts.
